Bonfire, Friends, and Bible Questions

It's been another busy week. My class is busy learning about addition and subtraction, Joseph, how to write a complete sentence, being a good friend, and how to read for a literature circle. During Bible this year, we are working through the Old Testament. I know that can be boring to some people, but I'm excited for them to have an overview of the whole story of God's people and why Jesus had to come save us. This week we finished up Joseph and the end of Genesis. When we got to the end of Genesis, I explained how we were going on to a new book, but the books are not always in chronological order like we are studying. The students were very curious about who decided what order the books would be in, who wrote the books of the Bible, who decided which books would be in the Bible, and if it was written a long time ago using typewriters. We talked about this for most of the class, and I think I'll need to plan a lesson on this again. It fascinates me how curious my students are about theological issues that I studied at college this past spring.

This weekend, I've forced myself to relax a little bit. Last night, I went to a bonfire with my teammates/friends. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows over a fire. Then, the guitar was brought out, and we sang praise songs together. It was such a great evening and chance to get to know everyone better.

-I was deemed eligible to teach here by the Venezuelan government!
-My students did much better on their math test on Friday than they did on the first chapter!
-Someone at church today reached out and tried to talk with me (which takes effort on their part because they have to speak slowly)!
-Continual strength, peace, and rest

-Finalizing my tickets for my spring visa trip
-Students' continued curiosity about God
-Work visas to continue through the process

Finally, a shout-out to my mom: Happy Birthday Mom! I wish I could be home to celebrate it with you.
