In February, ICS has a two-week Read-a-thon, where we encourage students and staff to read extra outside of school. This year, I was in charge of planning the activities for the elementary students' Read-a-thon. As usual, students tracked reading outside of school, and we spent extra time reading in school. My class read with younger classes than our usual little buddies. We also had a theme of Dr. Seuss and celebrated his birthday on March 2. Each class or small groups in that class read a book and made a small project on that Dr. Seuss book. Then, we lined up and held a book parade, walking through the school and secondary lunch. The kids had a lot of fun and enjoyed reading new Dr. Seuss books! On our last day, we had a celebration time during chapel. Puppet Club led us with one Bible themed skit and two Read-a-thon skits. Then, students were recognized for their hard work throughout Read-a-thon. Overall, Read-a-thon was a huge success! The kids had fun, and everyone read more. Enjoy some pictures below.
