Llaves (Keys)

On my first day here, I quickly learned that keys are very important here. Only one of my three roommates was here, and she left early to prepare for the brunch they were feeding us at school. I went to walk to school with the others in our building and realized that I couldn't get out of my house! The door was closed and locked (like it should be), and it takes a key to open even from the inside. Since it was the first morning, I didn't have my keys yet, so I waited around until the others came around the side of the house looking for me. Later that day, we received our key rings. After only having at most three keys in the past, I was amazed at the amount of keys I would need: keys for gates, keys for doors, keys for doors behind other doors. My classroom door opens to the outside, so I have my own key for that. If my students need to use the restroom, I have to unlock our door and unlock the door to the rest of the school for them to go in and then unlock it for them to come out. I can tell you that my class will definitely have strict rules on when they can use the bathroom because of this.  I'm still learning to use all of my keys, but I'm glad to have so many keys because I know that having so many is helping keep us safe at our home and school.
